Software Addresses Security Vulnerabilities in Standards-Based Way

ORLANDO, Fla., April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- InfoSec World Conference & Expo 2005 -- DesktopStandard Corporation announced that its leading Group Policy- based patch management product, PolicyMaker(TM) Software Update, received the prestigious CVE Compatibility Award today from MITRE Corporation at the MIS Training Institute's InfoSec World Conference & Expo in Orlando, FL. The product received the honor for its support of standardized definitions of security vulnerabilities and threats.
MITRE sponsors the industry-supported CV (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) standard, which provides standardized names and descriptions of more than 2,000 publicly known information security vulnerabilities and exposures. By supporting this standard, PolicyMaker Software Update is able to interoperate with major security applications from at least 52 major vendors whose products also conform to the standard, as well as give users ready access to the latest information on security vulnerabilities and how they can be promptly addressed.
PolicyMaker Software Update is a pure Group Policy-based patch management system that seamlessly integrates patch management with native Windows management technologies. DesktopStandard provides enterprise desktop management products based on industry standards, and recognizes CVE as the industry standard for vulnerability names and definitions.
